interesting fact 1 without heat nothing on this planet would be able to live without heat.

In this topic so far i have learnt that things like metal and steel are not cold but they just feel like that compared to things that are warmer for example like rubbing/sliding your hands together to make friction, then touching metal it feels cold but it's not.

I learnt that there are many different types of energy(heat, light, kinetic, solar, chemical, ect...).
fact1. Michael Faraday invented the first electric motor.
Fact 2. If it could be properly harnessed, enough sunlight falls on the earth in just one hour to meet world energy demands for a whole year!!!
Fact 3. Hoover Dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona and California.

I learnt that everything contains heat energy- even snow and ice. I also learnt that the earth contains the same amount of energy and energy can't be created or destroyed. Conduction, convection and radiation are all ways heat transfers. I learnt that conduction happens best in a solid.

Absolutely every thing has heat energy!!
even an ice block or an ice berg. There is no way heat can be created in any way or destroyed. There is a certain amount of energy in the world and that amount will never change.

CONVECTION:
Convection transfers heat through the flow of particles.

ok so i think i explained conduction when i was talking about earlier.
Conduction is when heat is transfered from 1 substance to another solids are the best example because when one hot solid is nxt to a cooler solid it heats up fast. this happens because a solids molicules are tightly packed together and each molicule will pass it on to the next until it is fully heated.

oh yeah! thats a full explanation right there Mrs. Cracknell and i was first to comment in 7d so wooo!!

I learnt that heat travels by conduction when fast moving particles collide with other particles making them move faster. Heat can travel from one object to another or straight through objects. Depending on what substance it is heat travels at different speeds from conduction.

I learnt that energy can be transferred and transformed and can't be destroyed.And i actually learnt that bigger objects have more molucules which means more heat!!!

Conduction is when heat expands through a substance through it's molecules transferring heat energy.

Convection is when heat travels upways because something that is heated is ligher than the same object that isn't. In water, the top layer (surface tension) is hotter than water that is lower.

Radiation comes from the sun,light bulbs lamps. Things that emitt heat. Radiated heat can be transmitted, absorbed or reflected depending what surface it has hit.

Tramsit through glass
Reflect off metal
Absorb in black surfaces

today i learnt that when trying to heat something by adding a hotter version of the substance, quantity is better than quality.

2 facts i learnt are:
1. 50 degrees bucket of water can heat up a pool faster than a cup of 100 degree water.
2.a statue of ice can still burn you.

convection currents are very simple, as the hot water rises the cold water goes to the bottom this is in fact how hot water systems work.
